MRI report

I received a copy of the MRI report today.

Clinical History :  Previous surgery for spinal cord herniation.

MRI Spine Thoracic :

MRI Spine Cervical :  Technique: Limited sequences, with high-resolution T2 sagittal images of the cervical and thoracic spine. Multiplanar reformats reviewed. Comparison with previous pre-operative MRI 13/05/16.

Findings: Previous T1-T4 laminectomies and reduction all trans-dural herniation of the thoracic cord and the level of T2/T3. The entire thoracic cord now lies within the spinal canal, but there is marked distortion of the cord anatomy at the previous herniated level, with a persistent left anterolateral bulge in the cord, and with marked myelopathy extending over a length of approximately 2 cm, at the level of dural herniation. The cord may be adherent anteriorly, but there is no extradural component.

Above and below the herniated level, the rest of the thoracic and cervical cord are normal. Mild mid cervical disc bulging, but no spinal stenosis, no neural compression at any cervical or thoracic level. Normal vertebral morphology, and normal imaged paravertebral soft tissues.

Comment: Successful reduction of transdural cord herniation at the level of T2/T3, but with persistent distortion of cord anatomy and with focal myelopathy at the previously herniated level. Baseline post-operative examination.

Doesn’t sound that good, but I guess it does explain the return of the symptoms.
