Well, that’s a good thing isn’t it, unless you’re cooped up in a bay with Southampton’s most ungrateful patient. I shouldn’t say this, but I was really pleased to hear he had decided he would discharge himself because he can do a better job at home than the ******* can do here.
Anyway, Mr S was on ward rounds this morning, and the MRI shows that the swelling in my spinal cord is going down. Good news, but at the same time I am starting to get some of the symptoms back that seemed to have abated after surgery. It’s still early days though. Mr S feels that if they can get me mobilised I can start thinking about going home. I’ve still not taken more than a couple of steps at a time as yet, although I definitely felt a bit more stable on my feet today. Hopefully I’ll be able to see a physio tomorrow or Monday (bank holiday though so not sure) and can start walking around a bit more. The pain seems to have generally been a bit worse today, but perhaps that’s because I’ve been in and out of bed a bit more, and have been wheeled down to the loo a few times. The other good thing is that a couple of my trips to the loo have been … I think the term is “productive”.
The dressing was changed again this morning, and apparently the wound is healing nicely. They put the new dressing on a bit higher up. It feels like the incision starts higher up than last year, but I haven’t seen it to compare. It itches like hell though, but that is generally a sign of the skin knitting together.
For some reason neither my iPad nor iPhone have been able to connect to the corporate wifi for the last couple of days. That means some urgent IT work has been required this evening. Thankfully it would seem the patient entertainment system has wifi enabled, and I’ve just run a quick test and can confirm that I am able to stream the Sky Sports F1 channel to my iPad, so I hereby give my permission for the Russian GP to go ahead. 😂
Hmm, it is now passed midnight and I have finished binge-watching season 1 of Broadchurch. Do I dive straight into season 2 or should I wait until tomorrow?
