By the time I got home on Thursday night Catherine had been vomiting and continued to have diarrhoea and vomiting over night and through Friday morning. The doctor diagnosed gastroenteritis and prescribed some antiemetic tablets. It would therefore seem that i had probably also had the same, and in fact had got off quite lightly compared to how it affected Cat.
I was still extremely drained on Friday but felt a lot better than I had on Thursday. Having not eaten at all on Thursday, I expected to be hungry yesterday, but I barely managed to eat a sandwich and a couple of bits of fruit all day. Cat and I kept our distance most of the day so we didn’t pass anything between us.
We both had a better nights sleep last night, but we’re both still quite disturbed – the heat not really helping. Thankfully the D&V seems to have stopped. I think another lazy day is going to be required.
Total empathy with you on your while experience though my surgery has obviously been on my legs. Had many of the more interesting patients with me on the wards too and unfortunately had to become one of the complainers because of constant mix ups with my medications/pain relief. Ignorant receptionists have had me in tears at times with their attitude. I am still having problems with walking but have now graduated from a walking frame to crutches which is progress.
What doesn’t help is that I am under 3 different departments in the hospital, none of whom seem inclined to talk to each other! So appointments nearly always have to be rearranged. Doing physio as well which is helping as I have a lot of muscle wastage from months of not moving much.
Have really enjoyed reading your blog, glad to see we are starting a new family tradition of unusual conditions/injuries. My left leg fracture (s) was also very rare, though quite how, I am not all sure!
Hope you continue to do well!
Love Sarah
