I decided last night I need to make a much better effort at getting back to a decent level of fitness. I weighed myself again a couple of days ago and was mildly pleased that I am pretty much the same weight as I was before surgery. Given that I put over half a stone on last year during the 3 months that didn’t seem too bad, although I know I did lose some weight when I had the gastroenteritis, so a bit annoyed with myself that I put that back on.
Having had a relatively decent nights sleep, I started by doing some of my exercises, then 5 minutes on the cross-trainer, but keeping it very gentle, before finishing off my exercises. To start with I was really quite stiff doing some of the stretches, but I tried again after going on the cross-trainer and managed a bit better. My left calf was a bit stiff this morning, but it struck me that this is the first time I’ve felt the stiffness in my calf for probably about a week, and it certainly wasn’t as stiff this morning as it had been getting.
Having made a positive start to the day, I started to get myself ready for work, and remembered I needed to take stuff for a gym session with the physio, and also that I have a full spine MRI this evening. Perhaps this wasn’t the best day to start on the cross-trainer. Time will tell I guess.
