A week of the new meds

My first week of taking gabapentin has continued to see improvements in the nerve issues, and the pain level has definitely been more tolerable on the whole.

I drove up to see my late wife’s mother in the north east on Friday.  It took about 5h45m in total including a stop to do the 310 miles. I didn’t feel as bad that night or the next morning as I had done after the 200 mile journey to Cornwall about 6 weeks ago. Perhaps this is the extra few weeks recovery, perhaps the change of car – who knows? The journey back on Sunday took about the same amount of time, but I was feeling much worse by the time I got back, and was not good the next day at work either. I suspect not having much of a gap between the two long trips did me in.

I stopped the amitriptyline on Tuesday night, as per the GP’s advice for changing to gabapentin. I need to monitor how my leg, and particularly right foot, is over the next few days, as I’ve had quite a distinct sensation of sunburn in my foot again last night and  this morning. It might be that I worked at home yesterday though, because I do find my legs are worse in terms of stability when I get up after even relatively short periods at my desk at home. I can’t work out why that is because my chair is almost identical to the one at work, and I don’t think the desk is a different height etc.
