The Verve were wrong …

… it turns out the drugs do work after all. (Dodgy mid-90s music reference anyone?!)

Having not taken tramadol on Monday and not feeling any worse for it, I didn’t take any on Tuesday morning either. During the day at work I felt no worse than normal, but by later in the afternoon I was starting to get some pretty bad pains, no doubt not helped by the fact I realised I’d not taken any ibuprofen all day and didn’t have any with me. By the time I got home I felt the need to take some to get me through the night.

I didn’t take any on Wednesday morning, but took some to work just in case. The day was manic. I knew it would be a long day as we had a recruitment fair in the evening, so it was after 9pm by the time I got home. It wasn’t long after that that the already quite severe pain in my centre back intensified, and I started getting worse than normal short sharp stabbing pains all around my chest and upper back. I’ve never had acupuncture, but I imagine what I was feeling was something like being given a very vigorous treatment by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. Consequently I (and Cat – sorry) had an extremely rough night, and by morning I’d put tramadol back on my routine meds list.

Yesterday the pain seemed pretty much back to normal and have been reasonably comfortable over night. If only I hadn’t woken at 4.45 stressing about all the things I need to do. 😒
