The arm pain of a few weeks ago proved to be short lived, and the hip pain hasn’t been as frequent nor as severe since I slowed down a bit from the move. My legs are still really wobbly though and I think I’ll have to give in and see the GP in the new year.
We had our office Christmas party on Friday night. As a result I didn’t take any of my afternoon or evening pain meds. This was partly because I somehow never got round to eating, so couldn’t take some, but also because the wonders of alcohol (for the first time since the last Christmas party I think) made me forget. To say I was in a state on Saturday would be an understatement. Not in a state because of being hungover, but because I was in so much pain. It took until the evening for the day’s pain relief to build up to an effective level, and even Sunday I wasn’t particularly great. As a result of realising how much effect the meds are having, I made a point of getting to the pharmacy yesterday to pick up my new supply. I’d ordered most of it 2 weeks ago, but when C went in to pick them up they didn’t have everything. To find at 5pm on Christmas Eve that they still didn’t have the Naproxen (15 days after the script was signed by the GP – I checked online) was more than a little disturbing. It was made worse by the fact that C had rung them in the morning and they confirmed they had everything, including the one they’d only given me a part fill of last week. They said they should have something “after Christmas”, but when I asked exactly when they meant by that, they couldn’t be specific and asked when I needed them by. I thought I had two days left so thought a Thursday morning delivery might be ok, but when I got home I realised tomorrow morning will be my last. I asked if they could suggest anything else, but all they could suggest was ibuprofen – a milder version of what I was taking. Consequently I’ve not taken any this evening so I can at least have one dose tomorrow and one Thursday, and hope they have sorted it out by then. Failing that I think I’ll have to put up with co-codamol. It disagrees with me, but stomach cramps might be better than – or at least a change from – the intense back pain.
