Yesterday didn’t finish well as I developed a horrendous headache late in the evening and kept me awake until well gone 3 o’clock. I was woken at 6 for obs and laid there feeling very sorry for myself until I had my morning meds shortly after 7am. I thought a concoction of mostly pain relief type medication would do the job, but it was t really until I was given some oramorph after 8 that I was able to relax and get a bit more sleep. When I woke I felt more human again, just in time to see the physios.
After checking me over they concluded that it wasn’t so much any significant weakness in my left leg, but largely due to clonus, and potentially some weakness in my left hip causing the specific front raise to be compromised. They got me up and took some tentative steps. It took a while, but I started to gain some confidence on my legs and we walked down the corridor a bit. For such a small thing it was incredibly tiring. I then tried with a zimmer frame again, and felt more comfortable with it. However, they didn’t feel I had sufficient mobility to be discharged so left me with the zimmer frame to practice with, even if only to get myself to the loo.
By this time I was not only completely knackered, but it had taken its toll on my neck, so I got myself into the chair and sat there for an hour or so over lunch. I then went back to bed, read a bit and had a nice long catch up with a work friend.
I got out of bed and sat in the chair again to have dinner. It is so much nicer sitting in the chair with the table for eating meals than having the table over the bed. My neck again got very painful again so was dosed up with paracetamol and oramorph.
