Day 4 morning update

Out into a chair for lunch yesterday, and i was taken off the oxygen. O2 sats were a bit borderline but they were happy for me to stay off it as long as I do some breathing exercises. I had the first signs of back pain returning, which might seem like an odd thing to be pleased about, but I see it as a sign that my neck pain is subsiding and so we will know what the device is doing when it is switched on.

After visits from family yesterday I slept on and off until morning obs at 5.30. it might’ve been broken sleep, but I definitely felt well rested this morning.

Mr Mundil came to see me this morning. He’s going to take me off the PCA this afternoon. The physios will come to see me today and see what support I need. He thinks we are aiming for discharge on Wednesday or Thursday, but will see what the physios think in terms of how I’m getting on. With the good weather he said I can look at getting outside for some fresh air in the next day or so.

The pain has definitely returned to my back as well as my neck, which I think is a good sign that I will see the effects of the device switching on. He will decide when I’m discharged whether switch on will be next week or the week after.

I can’t honestly say I feel great, but I definitely feel confident things are going in the right direction. xx
