Morning review

12 months ago today I had the trial SCS implanted, and here I am again, now day 2 post surgery for the replacement device.

Pain increased during the day yesterday, probably because the large amount of local anaesthetic that was put in during surgery had worn off. I’d also not restarted the Etoricoxib NSAID. Consequently I was using the PCA pump quite frequently. I struggled to get comfortable last night. I’d had a bit of a doze morning after Ruth left at 8pm, but then could only get very short naps (less than a song’s worth generally) until about 2.30. I then slept solidly until about 5.30. 3 hours might not sound like much, but I didn’t exactly do a lot yesterday. 😀 The main thing is I felt well rested. I suspect another nap will be in order by the time I’ve had a bed bath though.

The doctors have just done their rounds. I can get out of bed for short spells today. Since I’ve been using PCA pump a fair bit, they are going to keep me on it until tomorrow. I restarted Etoricoxib this morning so that should also help. The dressing on my spine had quite a bit of blood on and had leaked onto the pillows several times yesterday. I think I got through 4 pillowcases during the day. The registrar took a look this morning and was happy that it was dry now and didn’t what to disturb the wound by changing the dressing so it’s going to be left for now.

My latest collection of wounds. Almost identical to last year
