So this is one of those posts that I clearly intended to write, as I had a draft with the title, but nothing else. This is, therefore, being done from memory. Let’s face it, with the brain fog I was still suffering at the time, that’s a stretch. Hence this will be brief.
The general gist of the conversation was that Mr Mundil and I are pretty happy with the outcome of June’s surgery. We are also pleased with the new implant. I will continue to manage the neuropathy and pain medication in conjunction with the clinical pharmacist from the GP surgery. Mr Mundil will also follow up the referral to the hospital pain consultant team that work with neuromodulation to see how we can ensure I get good pain relief whilst getting the best from the device.
We discussed the neuropathy in my right foot. This is becoming the limiting factor in reducing the neuropathic medication. Mr Mundil doesn’t want to rush into further changes or surgery. However, he feels we can explore the possibility of targeting my foot with stimulation. He is not sure if that will involve an additional stimulator. If it does, he wonders whether it might interfere with the current one. He will also talk to Medtronic to see if it is possible to install another electrode. It is probably a wire rather than a paddle. The goal is to control it from the same IPG. We will have another follow-up in 12 months to discuss this further.
