I’ve been talking to a lady who has had a spinal cord stimulator for about 6 years. This is the first time I’ve actually spoken to someone with real-life experience. Hers is for epilepsy and she said it’s been life-changing. One of the things the registrar asked was which side I wanted the battery/control unit. It hadn’t even occurred to me I need to think about that. I concluded that, given I probably sleep on my left more than my right, having it on the right made sense. As I was speaking to the lady after seeing the registrar I asked her if she finds it intrusive when laying down etc and she said she doesn’t really notice it. I
t was so nice talking to someone with such experience, albeit for a different condition.
