All done. Surgery took a lot longer than expected due to the scar tissue but Mr Mundil was very happy with result. The neck pain is pretty bad, but we expected that, and it will improve.
There’s an interesting character in the bed across from me (another Ian). So far he has tried to tell the police we have been barricaded in and that nurses have him pinned down to a table and some of them have knives; the walls and ceilings are all wet, so much so that he saw a doctor appear from within one; and that the ceilings are caving in on us! 😮 Very sad, a touch humorous at times, and also worrying to think what the very people looking after him are being accused of.
I’m afraid to say this hasn’t been the NHS at its best.
- I was sent up from recovery with a PCA device that was known to have a dodgy remote connection (AER form completed and issues resolved)
- no introduction on the ward, it was quite a while before anyone came to say anything at all acknowledging I was there.
- my bag wasn’t brought up so I had no glasses, denture, phone etc
- not offered any food or drink on the ward (Ruth sorted)
I really hate to knock the NHS, and in particular UHS, but this has not been up to the usual great standard. 😒 I still wouldn’t want to be anywhere else though. Maybe if the NHS was properly funded and capable of being fully staffed! (Ooh-err am I getting a little political in the run up to the election! And/or am I becoming a grumpy old man?) 😱🤣
Right, time to get my sleep headphones in, chilled out music on, and get some sleep until they wake me up to do my observations again in an hour. 🙄
On the move
Other Ian firstly pulled his catheter out – from the “ouchy” end! 🥴 He was then trying to get out bed to use it as a shield from the people trying to drive their cars at him! 😮 The nurse tried to point out we are on the 4th floor so no cars up here! 🤣 They swapped our positions in the bay so he is closer to the nurse’s station where they can keep a closer eye on him, and I’m now by the window. What with him and the bloke who consistently asks for a urine bottle, uses it and then spills the content in the bed getting out from under the sheet! 🤦♂️ Never a dull moment.
