I’ve continued to feel generally groggy over the last few days, and the wobbly legs are definitely worse. Apart from having trouble getting to sleep on Friday and Saturday nights when I was still awake at 2.30-3am, I’ve slept quite well once I’ve got to sleep. The mornings have been a problem, with it taking a real effort to get out of bed due to pain and lethargy.
I cut down the amount of tramadol I’ve been taking over the last couple of days. Sunday I only took 50mg at lunch and late afternoon instead of 100mg. Yesterday I only took 50mg at all four doses, but the pain was noticeably worse by late afternoon and evening.
I saw the GP this morning, and she did a neurogical check on my legs, and everything seemed normal – well normal for me. She thinks I may have an infection in the wound as it is noticeably warmer than the surrounding skin. She is waiting to speak to the hospital before prescribing antibiotics. She has prescribed me a modified release tramadol which works over 12 hours instead of the 4-5 hours for the one I have been taking. My BP was 139/94 which she felt was reasonable in my circumstances. I also had bloods taken again.
I also asked about extending my sick note, but the new contract says the hospital have to do them all after an inpatient stay. I have spoken to the surgeon’s secretary again and she will chase the ward to send a new/corrected one.
