Reducing the tramadol

I’ve had a pretty rough week, particularly sleep wise, with 3-4 hours being the norm, and a couple of nights with barely 2 hours. Doesn’t really seemed to have affected me during the day at work though. Saturday was my first day without taking the evening tramadol. Pain-wise I don’t feel there’s been any real increase as yet, although I guess it’s still early days – 2 nights, one of which isn’t even over yet – is hardly a solid, scientific test – but at least I haven’t instantly regretted it.

Having worked all day Saturday at home, I was quite surprised that my leg problems weren’t as bad when using my office chair. Normally I have real issues getting up from it and for the first half a dozen or so steps after, even if I’ve only been sat for a relatively short time. However I barely noticed any problems on Saturday – and 13+ hours has to go down as a good test! Perhaps the increased gabapentin in the morning is doing the trick. Yesterday I worked in the morning again and then went out to do some gardening. C had already cut the back lawn, but I said I’d cut the front to get some fresh air as much as anything. Cutting the grass seems to be ok, and even doing the strimming is ok if I remember to move with it rather than swing it side-to-side too much. What seems to do me in is the bending/getting up and down to empty the mower, sort cables etc. It’s fair to say I was knackered and in a fair amount of pain after that, and took a well deserved (perhaps?!) break with the Xbox.

We watched a film in the evening and by the time it finished around 10.30 I felt ready to sleep. I think it was somewhere between 11.15-11.30 when I dozed off. The dog has a cold at the moment and it causes him to do repeated “reverse snorts” at times which apparently has a risk that it can stop him breathing, so he is sleeping in our room for now. It felt like I’d had a really good night when he woke C and I up. Unfortunately it was not even 2am, and here I am 2 hours later still wide awake.
