I received a copy of the clinic letter from Dr Patel. She confirmed a diagnosis of Brown-Séquard’s syndrome. Her findings were:
- Allodynia in the right heel
- Paraesthesia from the right foot to the right hip
- Normal cranial nerves
- Left leg weakness grade 4/5 in the left leg with spasticity and sustained clonus
- Proximal weakness in the right leg but otherwise distally power is 5/5 in the right leg
- Hyper-reflexic in the left leg with an extensor plantar
- Pinprick sensation dulled in the right leg at level of T8
- Normal pinprick sensation in the left leg
Arms are strong and joint position and vibration sense intact.
