Typical isn’t it? After feeling so rough Monday and so not going jet skiing, by Tuesday morning I felt so much better. Cat and I had decided part of the problem is that we can’t both sleep in the spare bed at S&B’s. After I’d spent half the previous night on the floor, Cat decided to make a bed up on the floor and leave me the bed, and it seemed to work out much better for both of us.
We had a fairly quiet day again after the Monday, and I was kept rather busy after having an increased offer on the bungalow accepted in the morning, and so spent a few hours sorting out the Conveyancing details. In the afternoon I went to the minor injuries unit to get my thumb checked out. When they took the dressing off it looked pretty horrible, although a lot of the redness had gone, and it was far less sensitive to touch. They gave me some spare dressings and suggested I just carry on sorting it out myself.
Wednesday morning I felt fine again, and decided there and then I’d seize the opportunity to go jet skiing. Part of me was thinking about the up coming appointment at Queen Square, and what if they operate again, so I got straight on the phone and booked to go on Thursday. It seemed unfair for Ben to miss out, and much better to have some company, so booked him a space as well. In the afternoon we went for a walk on Perranporth beach – fast becoming our favourite place in Cornwall, in part because it’s dog friendly all year round, has easy access (once you get parked), and the local ice cream shop does doggy ice cream on its menu! 🐶😊
We decided to make yesterday a beach day. Cat had wanted to try kayaking, so we packed up a picnic and took S&B’s kayak down to Gorran Haven beach, a dog friendly beach near St Austell. Ben and I then went round to Carlyon Bay for the jet skiing. I’m clearly not as flexible as I was last time I put a wet suit on, but got there in the end with Ben’s help. I then had the interesting prospect of walking across a soft sandy beach without my stick to get to the jet ski. I managed (wasn’t going to let that stop me!!) and had a great time out in the water. I don’t know if it was a balance thing, but I found myself veering right a lot on the first couple of legs, but the managed to compensate for it.
After the session and the climb back up to the car park, we went back to Gorran Haven to meet the others. I didn’t feel too bad, but decided I’d leave the others to do the kayaking whilst I stayed in the beach to look after Kieran and Bertie.
I was expecting to feel like a complete wreck today, but actually felt remarkably fine. The original plan was to drive home today, but had been fully expecting to have to put that off due to suffering some after-effects of the jet skiing. As it is we’ve decided to go back this afternoon whilst I felt ok, and leave me Saturday and Sunday to get over the drive and any delayed effects, before going back to what I know will be a hectic week at work.
