Starting to wonder

Friday evening and Saturday were difficult as I gradually told the family the news. It was nice to have S&B here for a fleeting visit to pick up some furniture, as it gave me the chance to tell them face to face, plus I had the distraction of my grandson for a while. Telling H on Friday was tough because I knew I’d have to tell her over the phone, and that she wouldn’t react well.

Other than playing with K a bit, I didn’t do much Saturday, having been strictly forbidden from interfering (or helping as I like to call it!) with moving the furniture. Even so, I was quite uncomfortable by the evening.

On Sunday we pottered around at home and played some Xbox. Late afternoon I started to watch the F1 GP and did some ironing. After about an hour or so though I had to stop as the pain was almost unbearable. I took my meds but nothing seemed to touch the pain for the rest of the evening. Surprisingly though, when I did eventually get to sleep, I slept quite well until only about 1/2 hour before my alarm went off – perhaps close to 6 hours with only one loo stop in the middle.

Yesterday wasn’t bad during the day but the pain really started to come back during the evening again, despite swapping position and chairs. By about 11 I couldn’t take it anymore and went to bed. I put the tv on, which distracted me enough to get to sleep after an hour or so. Unfortunately that didn’t last, and it was pain rather than my bladder that woke me around 4am. It is already making me wonder if I should just go ahead with surgery. Realistically though I have to give a change of meds a go.

I have little in my diary after mid-morning today, so I’ll hopefully be able to get an appointment with the GP to discuss a change of meds, and see if I can now be referred to the pain team.

On the plus side, I think the tingly fingers was related to the residual effects of my ingrown nails, as since they have heeled properly, the tingling seems to have gone away.
