I spoke to the GP again a couple of weeks ago, with the intention of trying pregabalin, as recommended by Mr Casey. However, the GP noted that I’m still on a relatively low dose of amitriptyline, so felt I should increase that first. I therefore started taking 40mg each night. I seem to have been sleeping better, but it’s not been helping with the increasing nerve issue, and it leaves me feeling groggy for quite a bit of the morning.
I rang the surgery again this morning and the triage nurse has booked me in to see a GP at lunchtime because she thinks it’s time I was referred to the pain team (really – so 22 months of constant pain is the decision point is it?!!!). I still need to have tried pregabalin before I see Mr Casey in 4 weeks, so hopefully I can get that sorted as well.
I have an MRI booked for 24th Feb at Queen Square, and have been advised to get dosed up again with morphine and diazepam again because, whilst they aren’t planning to do it prone again, I’ll be in there for a long time so they need me “comfortable”.
