Facebook reminded me this week that it has been 6 years since my first round of surgery. In its own way I think my back has been trying to remind me as well. After some prolonged spells of things being pretty much at the “normal for me” level of pain, in the last couple of weeks or so I’ve had some quite bad spells. Today is the worst it’s been for some considerable time.
It started getting bad during the day yesterday. I’d had a somewhat disrupted morning due to broadband problems and a couple of enforced trips up to the loft where my network cabinet is. I then made a hurried trip to work to continue my meetings. My back just seemed to get worse as the day and evening went on, and caused me to have a rather unsettled night.
Conceding to the fact I wasn’t going to get any more sleep I got up with the intention of using some Xbox time to distract me from the pain, only to discover my internet was down again (they must’ve done a great job fixing the problems in the area yesterday!). After a morning of not doing much at all, we decided to go into Romsey for a bit of a leg stretch and some late lunch. It was nice to get out, but my back started becoming unbearable so we headed home and, very much reluctantly I have resorted to taking some tramadol for the first time in months. 😒
