After a fairly average weekend, yesterday evening I started getting a much higher level of pain in my back and also an ache in my right shoulder/neck. The pain then spread round to start feeling like I’d bruised my ribs. It got to the point where taking even a moderately deep intake of breath was painful. It took me a long time to get comfortable in bed and even longer to get to sleep.
When I woke up and tried to move it was so painful I just stayed where I was until about 5.45 when the bladder over-ruled my desire to stay in bed. Over the course of the morning the general pain around my ribs eventually subsided, although the increased pain across my back has remained.
Strangely at a not too dissimilar time to last night, I started getting the more widespread pain again tonight. I pottered around the kitchen a bit tidying up and it was getting worse and worse. I sat down to watch a bit of tv and had some fruit, but the pain continued. After a bit “encouragement” from my fiancée I caved and called 111 who, despite several message warning of long wait times were amazingly quick to answer. The call handler did advise, given that I’d had covid over Christmas, and I’d coughed a few times during the call, that I do a covid test whilst I await a call back from a clinician.
So here I am, covid test done (negative), waiting for a clinician. Thankfully the pain seems to have plateaued before reaching the levels it got to last night, but I could still do without this thank you very much.
